PmWiki is a wiki engine for running a website whose pages look like normal web pages but carry an Edit link. Authors change pages with simple editing rules and do not need HTML or CSS. Editing can be open to the public or limited to small groups.
Password protection can apply to a whole site, groups of pages or single pages, and can work with .htaccess, LDAP or MySQL password databases. The core is kept small, with skins, templates and hundreds of add-ons for extra features. It suits small sites and groups that want an easy-to-edit website.
Strengths
- Pages look like a normal website rather than a typical wiki
- Flexible password protection per site, group or page
- Small core with many skins and add-ons
Limitations
- Uses its own markup rather than Markdown
- Dated default appearance without a custom skin
