About Renoise
Renoise is a digital audio workstation built around the music tracker approach, where notes and effects are entered in vertical pattern columns rather than on a piano roll. It covers recording, composing, editing, processing and rendering audio, and can be extended with tools. Version 3.5 added a phrase scripting engine, a splitter effect device, microtuning support and Ableton Link start/stop.
The same developer sells Redux, a sample-based instrument with a phrase sequencer that runs as a VST3 or AU plugin inside other DAWs. Renoise suits producers who prefer keyboard-driven, tracker-style sequencing.
