About SPICE
SPICE is a protocol and set of components for accessing virtual machines as if they were local. It covers video playback, audio recording, USB device sharing and folder sharing between the client and the guest.
The project has four parts: the protocol itself, a client such as remote-viewer, a server library the hypervisor uses to share the VM, and guest software such as the QXL driver and the SPICE VDAgent that run inside the VM. It suits people running their own virtual machines who want a smoother desktop experience than plain VNC.
