About thumbsup

thumbsup takes a folder of photos and videos and builds a static HTML gallery from it. It resizes photos, creates thumbnails and re-encodes videos to a web-friendly format using established tools such as ffmpeg, and it only rebuilds what has changed, so re-running it on a large folder is quick.

The output is self-contained and mobile friendly, so it can be browsed locally or uploaded to any static host such as AWS S3. Themes and config settings control the look and how albums are created. It installs as an npm module or a Docker image.
