Tinyproxy is a small HTTP and HTTPS proxy daemon for POSIX systems. It uses around 2 MB of memory with glibc, so it can run on an old machine or a Linux-based router where a larger proxy would not fit.
HTTPS is forwarded unchanged through the CONNECT method, and it can be set up as a transparent proxy so clients need no configuration. It needs only a minimal POSIX environment to build, with optional libraries adding features.
Strengths
- Very small memory footprint
- Runs on routers and embedded devices
- Transparent proxy mode
Limitations
- No caching, unlike larger proxies
- POSIX systems only, no Windows build
