About Tropy

Tropy is built for researchers who come back from an archive with thousands of photos named IMG_5261.JPG. It turns those photos into items that represent your sources, with metadata templates you can customize to fit your project, plus tags and lists for arranging material however you need.

Annotation tools let you transcribe documents, select image details and adjust photos for a clearer view. Projects can be exported as JSON-LD or CSV or sent directly to Omeka S, and plugins add further formats. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
