About VPN Gate
VPN Gate is an academic project from the University of Tsukuba in Japan, running since 2013. It lists thousands of public VPN servers operated by volunteers, which you can connect to at no charge to get around network censorship or hide your IP address.
Servers accept L2TP/IPsec, OpenVPN, MS-SSTP and SSL-VPN connections, so they work with the built-in VPN clients on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android. A VPN Gate Client based on SoftEther VPN is also available for Windows. Because servers are run by volunteers, speed and trustworthiness vary.
