About Automox

Automox is a cloud-based patch and endpoint management service for IT and security teams. It applies one patch policy, one schedule and one set of rollout rings across Windows, macOS and Linux, and it enforces reboots, including on laptops that missed the maintenance window.

When no patch exists, for example for a zero-day, a misconfiguration or unsupported software, its Worklets can disable a protocol, lock down a setting or quarantine the software instead. Reporting is included to show which endpoints are protected. The company has also announced Canopy One MDM.

Strengths

  • One patch policy covers Windows, macOS and Linux
  • Patches third-party software as well as the OS
  • Worklets mitigate issues that have no patch
  • Rollout rings and reboot enforcement built in

Limitations

  • Cloud-only service, no self-hosted option mentioned
  • Aimed at organisations rather than individuals
