About BGB

BGB plays Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Super Game Boy games on a PC with gamepad support, Vsync, low latency and a rewind key. Its hardware emulation is accurate enough that a ROM working in BGB will most likely work on real hardware.

A built-in debugger lets you inspect the emulation, create cheat codes and help with making or modifying ROMs, which makes it popular with homebrew developers. It ships in 32-bit and 64-bit versions and still runs on very old Windows PCs and under Wine.

Strengths

  • High emulation accuracy based on test ROM research
  • Built-in debugger for ROM development
  • Rewind and low latency
  • Runs on old Windows versions and under Wine

Limitations

  • Windows only, with other systems relying on Wine
  • Closed source
