About Exact Audio Copy
Exact Audio Copy, usually called EAC, extracts audio tracks from CDs using standard CD and DVD drives. Instead of relying only on jitter correction, it reads sectors multiple times with verification and checks results against the AccurateRip database.
When a scratched disc produces errors it cannot fix, EAC reports the time position of the possible distortion, so you can check that spot instead of listening to every ripped track. It suits people archiving a CD collection to lossless files.
