About Gapless

Gapless, previously known as G4Music, is a lightweight music player written in Vala with GTK4 and libadwaita. It plays music from your local library and has a fluent, adaptive interface that fits both desktop windows and smaller screens.

It suits people on GNOME or other Linux desktops who want a quick, simple player for their own files rather than a full library manager or a streaming client. The project is hosted on GNOME's GitLab and published under the GPLv3.

Strengths

  • Light and quick to start
  • Modern GTK4 and libadwaita interface
  • Adaptive layout for different window sizes

Limitations

  • Linux only
  • Focused on playback rather than library management
