About Guake
Guake is a terminal emulator for the GNOME desktop that slides down from the top of the screen when you press a hotkey and hides again when you press it a second time, in the style of the console in the game Quake. This keeps a shell one keystroke away without switching windows.
It is written in Python and has a long history, currently at version 3. It suits Linux users on GNOME or similar desktops who run quick commands often and want a terminal that stays out of the way until needed.
