About OrcaSlicer
OrcaSlicer descends from Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer and adds the calibration work most people otherwise do by downloading test models. Temperature towers, flow rate tests, retraction tuning and pressure advance are generated from a menu, so dialling in a new filament takes an evening rather than a week.
It supports printers from Bambu, Prusa, Voron, VzBot, RatRig and Creality among others, and adds print-quality features such as scarf seams, sandwich mode infill and polyhole compensation. The project warns that lookalike domains pretend to be the official site.
Strengths
- Built-in calibration tests for temperature, flow, retraction and pressure advance
- Scarf seams and wall spacing control for visibly better surfaces
- Profiles for Bambu, Prusa, Voron, RatRig and Creality machines
- Windows, macOS, Linux AppImage and Flatpak builds including ARM64
Limitations
- More settings exposed than a first-time printer owner needs
- Copycat sites such as orca-slicer.com push unsafe downloads, so use orcaslicer.com
- Releases move fast and occasionally regress a printer profile

Alternatives to OrcaSlicer
Compare allSoftware that can replace OrcaSlicer for an important use case, and what changes if you switch.
Bambu Studio
Bambu Lab's slicer, built on PrusaSlicer, with project-based workflows, multi-material painting and remote printer monitoring.
Bambu Studio adds remote printer monitoring and multi-material painting with flushing into infill, but it is built around Bambu Lab hardware and pushes you towards a Bambu account.
PrusaSlicer
Prusa Research's slicer, based on Slic3r, for both filament and resin printers and no account required.
PrusaSlicer needs no account, handles resin printers as well as filament, and has painted supports and seams, but it exposes fewer calibration tools than OrcaSlicer.
UltiMaker Cura
The most widely used free slicer for filament 3D printers, with profiles for hundreds of machines.
UltiMaker Cura has profiles for hundreds of printers, recommended presets and a plugin marketplace, but its calibration tooling is thin compared with OrcaSlicer.
SuperSlicer
A PrusaSlicer fork with extra fine-tuning settings, generated calibration tests and better thin-wall handling.
SuperSlicer also generates calibration test prints and adds fine top-surface controls, but one person maintains it and its last stable release dates from 2024.
Simplify3D
Prepare and preview print jobs with a commercial 3D slicer.
Simplify3D is a closed-source commercial slicer requiring a paid license, with configurable processes and toolpath controls but no built-in calibration tests listed.
ideaMaker
Prepare 3D models for printing with Raise3D's slicer.
ideaMaker is free but closed source, from Raise3D, and its printer profiles and advanced features depend on supported hardware.
KISSlicer
Fast, compact slicer that converts STL models into G-code for filament printers.
KISSlicer trades OrcaSlicer's many settings for a fast, simple interface, but it is closed source and the free version supports only a single extruder.
IceSL
Slicer with built-in modelling that turns STL files into printer-ready G-code.
IceSL is free but closed source, adds a scriptable modeller for procedural infill, and has thinner documentation and printer profiles than mainstream slicers.

Generate 3D-printing and CNC toolpaths in a browser.
OrcaSlicer is an installed desktop slicer under AGPL-3.0 with built-in calibration tests and many printer profiles, but it covers 3D printing only, not CNC.
