About fio
fio, the Flexible I/O Tester, generates configurable read and write workloads against disks, files and other storage so you can measure throughput, latency and IOPS. Jobs are described in job files or on the command line, and many I/O engines are supported.
It is widely used by kernel developers, storage engineers and system administrators to compare drives, tune file systems and reproduce performance problems. It is a tool for technical users rather than a one-click benchmark.
